Tadji Ulrich is a multi-award-winning writer and director based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.
His films have screened around the world and at some of Australia's biggest film festivals including St Kilda Film Festival and Flickerfest, in venues such as the Sydney Opera House, ACMI and Paramatta Park. He has picked up several awards along the way, including top prize at the youth section of Tropfest – the world’s largest short film festival - as well as winning the inaugural Emerging Filmmaker Award in 2019.
His other accolades include Best Australian Screenplay at Canberra Short Film Festival 2024, and a finalist for the AACTA: Focus pitching initiative in 2024.
His latest short film, a Gothic psychological drama titled The Wake, which depicts a son reconciling with his estranged mother whilst being plagued by visions of a giant sea monster, will enter the film festival circuit in late 2025. The film is a production of Melbourne-based production company OneHouse Story Co, known for their multi-award-winning short films. The Wake recently took home Best Film, Best Director, Best Editor and Best Sound Designer at Swinburne University's Industry Awards.
Tadji has written the first draft of a feature film, Catchwater, a coming-of-age drama about two boys who encounter a mysterious man that changes everything in their small town on the Murray River.
He is currently in development for an untitled feature film with creative partner, Finegan Sampson.
